Total State Hours: 16 HSW Hours
Total AIA Membership Hours: 18 Annually, including 12 HSW

How do I renew my license?

On-time renewals for the licensing period of May 1, 2018 to April 30, 2020 will begin Monday, March 5, 2018 and end midnight (HST) Monday, April 30, 2018

Renewal postcard reminders for Architect (AR), Landscape Architect (LA), Land Surveyor (LS) and Professional Engineer (PE) license types will be mailed out March 2, 2018

All online renewals will need to be submitted through “MyPVL” 

Renewals should be submitted by March 30, 2018

Biennial by April 30 every even-numbered year.  Failure to timely renew will result in the forfeiture of the license.  A forfeited license may be restored in two years, subject to meeting restoration requirements. Failure to restore a forfeited license in two years will result in the termination of the license and the person must apply as a new applicant and meet current licensing requirements.

CE documentation is not required to be submitted with your renewal application.


Who notifies the State of my continued education?

It is the licensee’s responsibility to notify the state


Do I need to complete continuing education requirements for my AIA Membership?

YES, as an Architect member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), 18 learning unit hours are required per calendar year for membership renewal.  Of these 18 hours, at least 12 hours must be in subjects designated as Health, Safety, and Welfare (HSW).
