What are the Georgia Continuing Education Guideline Requirements?

Georgia registered architects must complete a minimum of 24-hours including 16-Hours of HSW by June 30th of odd-numbered years.

Do I need to complete continuing education requirements for my AIA membership?

Yes, as an Architect member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), 18 learning unit hours are required per calendar-year for membership renewal.  Of these 18 hours, at least 12 hours must be in subjects designated as Health, Safety, and Welfare (HSW).

How do I renew my license?

Your license will expire on June 30th of each odd-numbered year. An electronic renewal application can be completed online once you receive the postcard notification that will be mailed to you by the State.  For access to the online renewal application, go to the Board’s website and click the button labeled License Renewals.

Are AIA approved classes accepted to renew my Georgia architect license?

Yes.

I have extra Georgia architect continuing education hours, can I apply them to the next renewal cycle?

No, learning units must be completed in their respective cycle.

Who notifies Georgia of my architect continuing education?

You must notify the state of your continuing education completion. Architects Training Insitute will provide printable certificates immediately after course completion and store your records for 6-years at no additional cost.

Does Georgia offer architect reciprocity?

Yes, an individual who is a registered architect in another state and holds an NCARB certificate may become registered in Georgia. Follow this link to proceed: www.ncarb.org.

My Georgia architect registration has lapsed, how do I reinstate it?

You may apply for reinstatement of your expired license by completing the reinstatement application, submitting it to the Board office, and paying the appropriate fee.
