Mississippi architects are required to complete 12 hours of continuing education in HSW subjects each calendar year.

New licensees are exempted from continuing education requirements for their first renewal.

I have extra Mississippi architect continuing education hours, can I apply them to the next renewal cycle?

No, learning units must be completed in their respective cycle.

Who notifies Mississippi of my completed architect continuing education?

Architects in Mississippi are only required to submit documentation of continuing education activities in the event of a compliance audit. Licensees are required to maintain documentation for a period of 6 years following the cycle to which the credits were applied. Architects Training Institute will submit your course completions to the AIA and maintain your records for 6 years free of charge.

Do I need to complete continuing education requirements for my AIA membership?

Are AIA approved classes accepted to renew my Mississippi architect license?

Yes.

My Mississippi architect registration has lapsed, how do I reinstate it?

It is unlawful to practice architecture in the state of Mississippi if a license has not been renewed prior to the November 30 deadline.

Licenses not renewed prior to the November 30 deadline may be late renewed within two years after the license expiration date by paying the monthly late penalty fee in addition to the biennial renewal fee.

Licenses not renewed within the two-year penalty period may not be renewed but may be reinstated at the discretion of the board. Reinstatement involves paying the applicable fees, submission of evidence of current qualifications, and certification of completion of the mandatory continuing education.
